I'm in law enfocement and been wearing the Original SWAT 9 inch boots for over 3 years now. This is an excellent duty boot but I thought I'd give the low quarters a try. First off, they are much lighter than the full 9 inch boots. Also, they keep my feet much cooler because they only go up to my ankle. The only drawback is they don't provide the ankle support as my other boots. So there are some pros and cons for me. They won't be replacing my duty boots but they will definitely come in handy on hot patrol days in the summer.
These boots are awesome! They provide good cushioning in the heel which you really start to feel after 6+ hours of being on your feet. I was wearing a full 8" boot before but I prefer these because they are easy to put on and take off. I like my shoes tight so I undo the laces and strap but you could probably get by with just opening the strap and unzipping. Regardless, they are still easier to wear than my old 8" boots.
i bought these for my job in food service. i needed something with good padding for 8hr shifts and decided on these after reading the reviews. my old pair made my feet ache but they were some $20 shoes i picked up at payless so nowonder. wearing these were night and day compared to my cheap pair. no more sore heels after long shifts so these are definitely worth it. i guess you get what you pay for.
Great shoes. I got these for my husband who has a landscaping business. Very happy with these.
I have very wide feet and usually boots I buy in wide widths aren't roomy enough for me. Not the case with these. I had a lot of room and they are very comfortable. i changed out the footbed with my custom inserts and they are great. I've had these for four months now and it looks like they will last a while.
I've been working in airport security for over 16 years and these boots and I've tried a lot of different boot brands and models. Let me tell you that these Original 1231s are the best bang for your buck. I've worn cheaper boots that just aren't as comfortable and last only 2-3 months. These cost a bit more but are still well under $100 and I get at least a year out of them. I wear these as my primary work boots so we're talking at least 40 hours every week. I really should double up with another pair and switch them out every day. But I'm really happy with these. They are comfortable and the side zipper makes it really easy to take them on and off as compared to laces. I'm definitely a believer in these.
great shoes and way more comfortable than high ankle boots zipper makes puting these on really convenient.
I work in the Arizona desert doing patrols where the temperature gets up to 120 degrees. I used to wear 8 inch Danner boots but my feet used to bake in them. Then I found out about these from a coworker and what an improvement. The lower ankle on the boot makes it much cooler and my feet breathe much easier even though these are padded really well. My patrol duty is much more comfortable with these on. Excellent boots for hot weather.
