Great boots, but sizing is an issue

By Jeff Dimond on Feb 29, 2012

I have been wearing the same size boots for the last 12 years. I've owned multiple pairs of Altimas, Danners, Cocorans as well as a few other brands. This is the first pair of boots that I have purchased that didn't actually fit my feet. It seems like this model, or at least this size and model seems to run narrower than any other that I have owned. After wearing these for about 15 minutes I already have blisters on both my ankles that formed and popped. Considering where I work, I have to be able to walk 5+ miles a day just to get around the building. Sadly I didn't read the return requirements for the retailer so I might have to suck it up for a few days and hope that they actually break in some or else I will have thrown away my money. Other than the size these are the lightest boots that I have owned had have great potential if they fit better.

Good Pair of Boots

By D. Lee on Jan 19, 2012

I bought the EXOSpeed I boots before I deployed to Iraq in 2006 and really liked the weight, however, I did not like the stability of them. These boots are just as light and feel more stable. They came broken in right out of the box. Good price and a great pair of boots. /p>

Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:

Best Hot Weather Boot Hands Down

By D. Gehl on Jul 7, 2011

I purchased a pair of the first generation Exospeed boots and was surprised as many people are by the light weight of the boots. They literally weigh nothing, but they are very comfortable and the quality is quite good. Only after 5 years of wear did the sole separate from the rest of the boot, but a quick application of super glue brought them back to life. And they are still going strong today. They have survived the deserts of N. Africa, Nepalese mountains, Cambodian jungles, and six months as a dirt bike boot in Australia with no problems. They are great for riding, as they circulate a lot of air when the wind gets moving over them. Light enough to wash in a machine, and strong enough to see you through whatever situation you find yourself in.

Excellent Lightweight Boot

By mikeyx from Fort Carson, CO on Apr 2, 2012

Great boots. Super comfortable, like walking in running shoes. I received these 3 days after placing my order. Very happy with build quality and comfort. Glad I decided to try Altama.

Fast Shipping
Light

Great Boots

By jihadkiller412 from denver, co on Mar 24, 2011

Great construction and fit was true to size. These Altamas give good ankle support without being too heavy. They are also heavily padded which can get hot at times but definitely give you the support you need in a sturdy combat boot but without the weight.

Out-Freakin-Standing!!!!!

By ARandomSoldier on Mar 18, 2011

I love these boots! When I received the package, I thought they had just sent me an empty box! Much to my surprise, there were a pair of boots in the box. These boots are lighter than any pair of tennis shoes I own, and are extremely comfortable out of the box. And they continue to become more comfortable as I break them in. These boots are better than any brand I have ever worn. I've had danner, bates, and bellville, and these are the best boots I've owned by far.

Pros:
Super lightweight
Best boots so far
Cons:

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Carpenter

By D. Scott. from Dryden, WA on Oct 9, 2010

I have worked in carpentry for many years and prefer the lighter weight comfort of a military style boot for the ankle support and to keep debris out of my sox. I ordered a pair of these last spring and true to other comments, they were comfortable right out of the box. Within 6 weeks, the heal portion where the actual heal joins the uppers came unstitched on one boot. Within another few weeks, the same happened to the other which kind of defeats the whole reason I wear them (to keep dirt and sawdust out of my sox). After only 5 months, the soles are shot, the heal padding is disintegrating on both boots and the previous problems have gotten worse. On a positive note, the laces have lasted FAR better than any other boot I have used but I have ordered a different pair to replace them.

altama boots

By sergeantcampbell27 on Dec 20, 2009

These boots are awesome. They feel like i am wearing running shoes. They also offer lot of ankle support. I have not twisted or rolled my ankles since I have been wearing these boots. They are a little uncomfortable at first with the tongue of the boot. I have worn standard military issued boots for the last 8 years, and I have never worn a military boot as comfortable as this. I would reccomend this boot to any soldier.

Pros:
Comfortable
Affordable
Cons:

I would recommend this item to a friend.
