I've had good experiences with Bates in the past. This is my third pair of these in three years which isn't necessarily a bad thing since I seem to go through athletic shoes in less than a year. I was recommended this particular model(E02262) a few years ago by a friend and haven't looked back since. These boots end just above the ankle which is perfect for hot weather so you can at least get some air and cooling compared to a full height boot. But at the same time they provide decent protection and definitely more ankle support and a running shoe. These take about two days to break in and once that happens you barely even realize you have them on. I think I have some running shoes that are heavier than these. I use these for work and they clean up really easy. I even use and on the weekends in my workshop and have still almost everything on them. Everything seems to come off really easy with this new leather. These are excellent boots and the price makes them even better!

These boots fell apart after a month. I work in an airport in Las Vegas and I'm on the hot tarmac for most of the day. The glue in these boots seemed to melt and they just fell apart. Lousy!

I picked a pair of these up for motorcycle riding. I decided on a mid-to because the full height versions were to restrictive and I didn't want the extra weight. I've got wide feet so I'm pretty limited in my options. I got these in wide and they fit perfect. Excellent motorcycle boot and they are very lightweight
